The Bosch VP44 Diesel Pump (PSG5) is fitted to a wide range of vehicles and is a very common failing part. Due to the Hybrid technology behind the design of the Bosch VP44 Diesel Pump we have found the unit will fail in very specific ways which will make the vehicle cut out and not start.

We are taking these units in daily to be tested and repaired. On testing these units we have found that the fault is within the Electronic Diesel Control Unit (EDC) and not the mechanical part of the diesel pump. Our latest diesel pump test rig allows us to communicate directly with the EDC unit and test all functions of the electronic diesel pump. When these fault codes occur, you are normally advised by dealers and local garages that the unit will require replacing and depending on the vehicle it can cost upwards of £1000 with labour & programming. Note: The hybrid technology within the EDC is very easily damaged and should only be opened by a skilled professional with experience in hybrid EDC repairs.

Just had cut-out while engine was running (idle)
Wouldn’t restart. I have carefully removed the edc (psg5) unit.
I believe most common fault are the transistors.
Can you have it tested and repaired after test (if faulty)
What are the cost for test and repair? How many days does it take?

my Isuzu 2.5TDi started by losing power acceleration dragging very much not going over 50m/hr with black smoke and when straining it or driving engine check light comes on and when you switch off and park 5mins it goes off but still no power.Went on not to idle in the morning just cuts off except when you put your foot on the accelerator for 5mins.It was diagnosed and gave a code P0216 injector pump related and concluded to be the ECU.so how much for it to be repaired and do you need the whole pump or the ECU ONLY.My car Reg is EX04*** Its a TFS or LWD similar to RODEO

Engine starts fine always then sometimes works with no problems for 20-30 km when suddenly the engine stops. If I start the engine again it starts after les than 1 sec of cranking. Sometimes it stops 3-4 times in 1 minute sometimes it can work fine for 30 min or so.
If it stops ant high speed the car intertia starts the engine again without being obliged to stop the vehicle and crank.
Errorcode on ecu: 0550- start of injection regulation 27-10 implausible signal, intermittent.
01318 – Control Module for Injection Pump (J399): No Communications.
