Do you have some questions?

Summary: We rebuild turbochargers and electronic turbo actuators at our workshop in Epsom, Surrey. If you are close enough to drive, you are welcome to bring the unit in on a weekday. If you are not, it posts in from anywhere in the UK and comes back rebuilt, tested and ready to refit — bench time is typically one to two working days from the day it arrives. Use the enquiry form on this page or the online repair form, and tell us the vehicle, the reference on the unit and what it is doing.

Most people reach this page after searching for a turbo specialist near them. It is a sensible search that usually returns the wrong shape of answer, because a rebuild is bench work and the car does not need to be in the same county as the bench.

Distance decides how your turbo reaches us, not whether we can rebuild it. The unit comes off the car, comes to Epsom and goes back on, which is why a workshop in Surrey rebuilds turbochargers for cars that will never be in Surrey.

Where We Are, and Who Should Bring a Unit In

Our workshop and registered address is Unit 102 Reaver House, 12 East Street, Epsom, Surrey, KT17 1HX, United Kingdom, and it is open weekdays, 9am to 5pm.

Coming in person suits a fairly narrow group, and it is more useful to say who than to imply everybody. If you are within a short drive — the rest of Surrey, south-west London, or anywhere the M25 puts you half an hour or so away — handing the part over takes minutes, and you can point at the play or the noise you are worried about while somebody is holding the unit. Garages near us often prefer that for the same reason.

Further out, the arithmetic turns. Two hours in the car each way to deliver something that fits in a box is time you do not get back, and the work happens on the bench either way.

If you are coming in, tell us first through the enquiry form on this page, so the unit is expected and we know what is arriving.

If Your Car Is Not Near Epsom, Send the Unit Instead

You send the part, not the vehicle. Which part depends on what has failed.

For an electronic turbo actuator repair, send the actuator on its own. It unbolts from the side of the turbocharger and disconnects at the link arm, and the turbocharger stays on the engine. If you would rather not do that yourself, any competent garage can.

For a turbocharger rebuild, the complete unit comes off the car and travels as it is. Do not strip it down first — an assembled unit carries a wear pattern that a bag of parts does not.

Packing is where units get damaged. Use a rigid box rather than a padded envelope, and pack it so nothing can move inside. Cover the oil feed and return openings and the compressor and turbine inlets, so nothing works its way into the core in transit. On an actuator it is the connector and the output arm that break in the post, not the casing, so pad those and send it tracked.

Put a note in the box with your name, the vehicle, the symptom and any fault codes, so the parcel can be matched to your enquiry when it arrives. Post it to Unit 102 Reaver House, 12 East Street, Epsom, Surrey, KT17 1HX, United Kingdom.

What Happens After You Get in Touch

    1. You send the details. The enquiry form on this page or the online repair form, with the vehicle, the reference on the unit, the symptom and any stored codes.
    2. We identify the unit. Work is identified from the reference stamped on the casing rather than the badge on the car, so we can usually confirm what we are able to rebuild before you post anything.
    3. The unit arrives and is booked in against your enquiry, which is why the note in the box matters.
    4. It is tested as received. The unit goes on the bench before it is opened, so what we work from is a measurement rather than the fault code it arrived with.
    5. Stripped and reported. It comes apart to component level, and we tell you what has actually failed and what the rebuild involves.
    6. Rebuilt. Worn components are renewed rather than cleaned and refitted, to OE or OEM-grade specification, with an uprated part where the original design is the reason it failed.
    7. Tested again, then returned. The rebuilt unit is run through its range on the bench before it is packed, and what comes back is your own unit rather than an exchange one. An actuator needs no coding when it goes back on.

Bench time is typically one to two working days from the unit arriving. That clock covers the work and not the journey — transit at both ends sits outside it.

What to Have Ready When You Contact Us

Every item below changes the answer you get back, and the enquiries that stall are the ones missing one of them.

What to send usWhy it changes the answer
A photograph of the reference stamped on the casingIt identifies the unit. The same turbocharger and actuator families are fitted across many different vehicles, so the car narrows it down and the reference settles it. Photograph the markings rather than typing one out.
The vehicle, engine variant and yearIt tells us what should be fitted, which is how a mismatch between the car and the part in your hand gets caught before anything is posted.
What the car is doing, and when it does itLimp mode, a whistle, smoke, flat acceleration low down — different shapes of symptom point at different parts of the system. Cold or hot, under load, only after a restart: timing separates a fault that is always there from one that only shows up warm.
Any stored fault codes, and whether they clear and stay awayA boost-control code names the loop the ECU is unhappy with, not the component inside it. Whether it returns, and how quickly, often tells us more than the code itself.
Anything already done to itA previous clean, a replaced part, a turbocharger that has been off before. It changes what we expect to find and stops us re-testing what you have already ruled out.

Opening Hours, and What They Mean for a Job

The workshop is open weekdays, 9am to 5pm.

That matters mostly for the way turnaround is counted. Bench time is quoted in working days, so a parcel landing late on a Friday is on the bench the following week. If you are planning around getting the car back on the road, count the transit days at both ends as well as the working days on the bench.

If you are dropping a unit in rather than posting it, come within those hours and tell us beforehand through the form.

    Garage and Trade Enquiries

Independent garages, workshops and main dealers use the same route as private owners, and a good share of what reaches the bench arrives from the trade.

Send the unit with the customer’s vehicle details and the reference from the casing, and it comes back to you rather than to them. The identification points above apply in the same way: a part catalogued against one badge is regularly the right unit for another, so the numbers on the casing are what we work from.

If you are quoting a customer and need to know whether a unit is rebuildable before you commit, send the references and ask first.

    Contact and Logistics FAQs

Warranty, payment and shipping questions are covered in more depth on our FAQs page.

Do I need to bring my car to you?

No. A rebuild is bench work on the turbocharger or actuator, not a job the vehicle is present for. The part comes to us and the car stays where it is.

Should I send the actuator or the whole turbocharger?

The actuator alone if the fault is in the actuator; it unbolts and the turbocharger stays on the engine. The complete turbocharger if the fault is in the turbocharger itself. If you are unsure, ask before you take anything off.

    How long will it take?

Typically one to two working days on the bench from the day the unit arrives, plus transit at both ends. Electronic turbo actuator repairs start from £100; what a turbocharger rebuild involves is settled once the strip-down shows what needs renewing.

Can I drop a unit off in person?

Yes, weekdays between 9am and 5pm. Let us know first through the form on this page so that it is expected.

Which department should I choose on the form?

New Enquiries for a repair you have not sent yet, Existing Orders to ask about one already with us, Shipping for a parcel question, and Accounts for anything to do with payment or invoicing.

Do you sell turbochargers as well as rebuild them?

Yes — the units we carry are listed in the shop. If the one you need is not there, send us the reference from your own unit.

    Send Us the Details

Proximity is the first thing people search for and close to the last thing that decides a turbo job. What decides it is what the unit is, what has failed inside it, and how it travels — and all three are settled from the details you send before anything is boxed up.
